Genesis 16 tells a story of a slave woman called Hagar, an Israelite, an Egyptian (An African Women) who becomes a single mother. She becomes desolate and unemployed, She is not in control of her life story and she is not seen by her masters. But God has a different interaction with Hagar, He looks for Hagar and finds her, He acknowledges her and calls her by name. God does not impose His views on her but asks her questions. He gives her a space to voice her issues. He restores her humanity and dignity and then God directs her and makes a personal promise to her as He did to Abraham.
